Do I have a twin sister in Israel? That's 12 years younger than me?

So, courtesy of Pop Candy , I found this website called Soundpedia.com . It seems to be a FREE music site where you can watch videos, listen to albums, etc. You can also register and create playlists that you can share with others. It's like iTunes, except you can listen for free to entire songs. A couple of cool features include a tab that shows you the lyrics of the song as it plays and a tab entitled "Relation" that shows you the relative things/bands/genres/influences/feelings that is associated with your band/song/genre. For example, I typed in Depeche Mode. It came up with artists like: The Cure, Morrisey, Kraftwerk, A Flock of Seagulls (?), etc. It also lists other members that have "favorited" your band so you can connect with other "insert band name here" fans from around the world. I ended up finding a kindred soul who likes No Doubt, Depeche Mode, and Barenaked Ladies. Now I know that's a weird combo, but this girls' playlist...

Chew on this!

Okay, so I'm still trying to recover from a 2 hour Pilates class that I took on Saturday. (Why take both the beginner and intermediate class? Because the teacher offered both for the price of one and I wouldn't be my mother's daughter if I didn't take it.) So while I wobble around, chew on these things: -The website for The Simpsons Movie is up and running. There's a couple of games and the trailer to watch. Plus, you can make yourself as a Simpsons character. As for the trailer, it's okay. I realize that they're trying to send up the whole summer Blockbuster thing, but it doesn't seem to fit The Simpsons, but the end makes it all worth it. Trust me. -The food critic for LA Weekly, Jonathan Gold, has released his 99 essential restaurants to visit. The whole list is in the latest issue, plus on their website. There's a lot of restaurants that I have never heard of, or have heard of but haven't gone to, as well as some old favorites that...

Bob's New Job?

Oh Bob, how I miss you so already. C'mon ESPN, get off your duff & hire the guy! "...and the Gonzaga Bulldogs beat the Arizona Wildcats in a close game in Tuscon. Speaking of animals, help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered. That's all for tonight, I'm Bob Barker for Sportscenter."

You know how I love FREE STUFF

Shauna just tipped me off to a free happenin's at LACMA . There are events throughout the weekend, but Friday seems to be the most fun. Sometimes I don't like museums because they make me sleepy, but a DJ and a free screening of "Hairspray" makes me change my mind. You do have to RSVP though.

Cute little indie

Image
A couple of months ago, I was able to go a screening of "Rocket Science" with the Hubband and another friend of mine. It's about this teenage boy with a stuttering problem that joins the debate team because of a certain girl. And he's got some really random and weird friends and family that make it charming. It's a really cute and funny movie with great uses of Violent Femmes music. Not a easy combination. I highly recommend it. Here's the trailer for it. Bonus fun fact: The guy that plays Ben Wekselbaum also was Hunter, Jan's assistant on "The Office", before she got canned. I wonder if he'll be Ryan's now... UPDATE: That guy was also just listed as Claire's new boyfriend on "Heroes". Guess that answers the Ryan question.

Let's Go Dodgers!

Image
Went to the Dodger game last night w/ the hubband, George the Mets fan, and his wife. It was a good game, with solid scoring by the boys in blue and plenty of junk food to eat. But, it was a little shocking to go and see all the mess that the Dodger fans were saying to the Mets fans. It was like all the Dodger fans turned into big bullies. I've been going to see the Dodgers since I was a little one and this by far was the worst harrassment that I've seen. And these weren't even the Angels or the Giants. What's up with that Dodger fans? Why be hatin'? Especially when we're up 9 to 1? Another added bonus of the night and my vote for favorite fan

For Sale: One dog that will eat anything

Including 19 cupcakes that you very carefully baked and frosted (with rainbow sprinkles by the way) the night before your hubband's birthday. Who ignores you even though you tell him multiple times that if you eat daddy's cupcakes, I'm going to punt you in the butt. Who is talented enough to reach up onto the table, fight his way through 2 tupperware containers and eat the cupcakes clean out of their wrappers and then have the gall to beg you for more food when you eat dinner. Any takers? THE EVIDENCE! "OH, I'M SO ASHAMED!" ONE TUBBY PUPPY

RIP Mr. Wizard

Image
This morning I rode the elevator up to work and found out that Mr. Wizard died . That is so sad. I remember watching him on Nickelodeon after school, doing his little experiments with ping pong balls and coffee cans and all that. He was the first to introduce me to dry ice & its properties and for that I salute you Mr. Wizard.

Today is the hubband's b-day

Yep, today the hubband turns one year older. We're going to celebrate with many umbrella drinks and cupcakes. Mature I know. To celebrate the day, let us listen to a 90's Paul McCartney singing one of the best birthday songs out there. You know that if you're in a bar on your birthday, some drunk will always yell this at you, thinking that it's the cleverest thing. "Oh thanks! Nah, no one's ever done that before - genius!" p.s. Paul's rockin' a pretty crazy mullet, but let's see him pull off that polka dot shirt that his drummer's wearing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY! Just for you!
