Dapples from Movies & TV: Celeb Sightings!

Whenever I talk to friends from out of town, they always ask me if I've met anyone famous. Given that I've lived in LA for almost all of my life, I have to say yes. But then, I can never think of anyone off the top of my head. And I think it's because of this: LA is the home of tons of celebrities. It's their little comfort zone. So, if I see Arsenio Hall at the Pier 1 Imports on Ventura buying throw pillows with his wife (true story), then I don't want to bother them and go on about how much I like their movie/show/blog/record/children's name. Let them be and live their lives like any normal, non-star/celebrity. That's how I would want to be treated if I were to become an international superstar. HOWEVER, they are still everywhere and with this blog, I will document the celebs that I see around town. I am not Gawker or Defamer(*RIP) and will not note precise details like time of day and intersections and all that. Not that there's anythin

It's so addicting...

Since becoming a new Mom, I've learned a bunch. How to swaddle, how to take a baby's temperature (ugh), and how to babyproof. I've also discovered a bunch of new websites dedicated to making your life as a parent easier, cheaper, and more fun. One of these websites is Mamabargains.com . They bring you baby/kiddo/maternity items to you at a super discounted price. And after they sell out of the item, a new one pops up in it's place! It's amazingly addictive . I've purchased stuff for LMH there, as well as gifts for other little kiddos. I've also got some stuff for myself. I do end up spending a bit of time on this website, snapping up bargains, but the guilt isn't as bad because they are discounted by such a big amount. Plus, they've recently added USPS shipping options, so the shipping costs don't have to be so high. It's a great place to get something for your little one, as well as where to stock up on some great Christmas items.

Young Asian Comic = Tragic Health Club Incident?

Image
Last month I was reading an interview that USA Today did with Charlyne Yi. She's the comic/writer/actor from the movie "Paper Heart". She also played the stoner girlfriend from "Knocked Up" who talks about Katherine Heigl's fetus eating all of her food* . You know, that girl. And at the end of the piece, USA Today kindly pointed out some articles that I may also like... Why would my interest in Asian Female comic actresses/writers lead me to the shooting in Pittsburgh? It's neither funny nor romantic. Must have been a lot of Asians in the club? Yet another example of why it will take computers years to replace humans. *Which is all I could think about when I was in my first trimester...

Procrastination Station: Commercials

The winners of the Clio Awards were announced and I was pleased to find that the "Aaron Burr" Got Milk commercial was given Hall of Fame status. I remember how popular that spot was way back in 1993 when I was in High School. It kicked off the entire Got Milk campaign and is still memorable, if not a trivia question somewhere on Jeopardy.   You can watch the "Aaron Burr" spot, along with the other winners, over at the Clio Awards site.  I also really like these Pepsi Throwback commercials.  It's amazing what good voice acting makes in a commercial, tv show, or movie.  The voice of Pepsi really nails it.    What's Up 70's Decorative Mantlepiece?
