Dapples from Movies & TV: Celeb Sightings

Whenever I talk to friends from out of town, they always ask me if I've met anyone famous. Given that I've lived in LA for almost all of my life, I have to say yes. But then, I can never think of anyone off the top of my head. And I think it's because of this: LA is the home of tons of celebrities. It's their little comfort zone. So, if I see Arsenio Hall at the Pier 1 Imports on Ventura buying throw pillows with his wife (true story), then I don't want to bother them and go on about how much I like their movie/show/blog/record/children's name. Let them be and live their lives like any normal, non-star/celebrity. That's how I would want to be treated if I were to become an international superstar. HOWEVER, they are still everywhere and with this blog, I will document the celebs that I see around town. I am not Gawker or Defamer(*RIP) and will not note precise details like time of day and intersections and all that. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just that this is going to be more like a general log so the next time someone asks me I can name the names.

Celeb Sighting #9 - Harold...no, Kumar!....no wait, yes it was Harold. John Cho at my local Whole Foods this summer! I was getting some goodies to picnic with at the Hollywood Bowl (for those of you who haven't done this ever, you are totally missing out), and I saw him getting some food at the yum delicious hot food bar. In fact, he was getting food everywhere. I saw him while I was at the sandwich counter, then I saw him over at the meat counter, and then, we were next to each other at the cheese counter! Boy! He must have been preparing a nice dinner that night for a lady friend or something, because he was getting so much fresh food.

I usually make no contact with the celebs when I see them, but this time I had to talk to him. Literally. He was in my way at the cheese counter w/ his cart, so I asked him to move and he did. Apologized too. Who says celebs are rude? I felt like I was in one of those trashy gossip mags. John Cho - he's just like us! He looks for cheese! He moves out of the way!

Oh, and after he left, I stage whispered to my friend that I just saw Kumar. Over and over, "I just saw Kumar! That's him - Kumar". Then she politely reminded me that he played Harold, not Kumar. Oops. And then I said, "Oh yeah, and he played Spock in Star Trek this summer. No wait, Sulu!" Double Oops.
