Quick Review of the new F'nE: "Frankly, I'm underwhelmed."

Image
Tesco's new Fresh and Easy opened up Thursday in 6 different cities. My friends and I have been anxiously awaiting the opening because that area was in desparate need of another supermarket. If the Hubband and I wanted to make waffles on Saturday morning but didn't have enough eggs, we'd have to schlep all the way down to the not-so-great Ralphs on Colorado & Verdugo (not far really, but we're lazy - it's the weekend after all) Plus, the F'nE was touted as a grocery store with "Lots of fresh and wholesome food choices, including prepared meals and organic foods, [that] make healthy eating easy and affordable." So, we went to opening day over at the F'nE, and I'm still trying to figure out how best to describe the place. To quote a certain funny, fabulous judge on Project Runway, "Frankly, I'm underwhelmed." It was like a Trader Joe sized Costco. It was very industrial and wherehouse-y on the inside. Much smaller t...

Yay for America!

Image
There's an article in the The U.K.'s Daily Mail today that, frankly, makes me thankful to be an American. There are things in pop culture/society that I am really not proud of (Paris, OJ, botox, high speed freeway chases) but at least we didn't come up with this: (Be prepared: There's a pic in the article that might not be SFW) How a bowl of warm water can help you buy a bra that fits better Here are some snippets of the article: "Now style gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine appear to have gone one step further, by encouraging women to plunge their breasts into water to help them work out the exact size of their bosoms. The bizarre technique, they say, is a far more accurate because it determines the weight, rather than the cup size of a woman's breasts." And my personal favorite: "But after dunking her assets into a bowl of luke warm water, design engineer Dr John Tyrer, was able to work out that Susannah's breasts weighed two pound...

Dapples from Movies & TV: Celeb sightings

Image
Whenever I talk to friends from out of town, they always ask me if I've met anyone famous. Given that I've lived in LA for almost all of my life, I have to say yes. But then, I can never think of anyone off the top of my head. And I think it's because of this: LA is the home of tons of celebrities. It's their little comfort zone. So, if I see Arsenio Hall at the Pier 1 Imports on Ventura buying throw pillows with his wife (true story), then I don't want to bother them and go on about how much I like their movie/show/blog/record/children's name. Let them be and live their lives like any normal, non-star/celebrity. That's how I would want to be treated if I were to become an international superstar. HOWEVER, they are still everywhere and with this blog, I will document the celebs that I see around town. I am not Gawker or Defamer and will not note precise details like time of day and intersections and all that. Not that there's anything wrong wi...

Louis Stevens busted!

Image
This morning I read that actor, Shia LeBeouf, was busted in Chicago for not leaving a Walgreens. The article from cbs4denver.com states: 'Transformers' Star Shia LaBeouf Arrested (CBS) CHICAGO You may have seen him stubbornly standing up to an invasion of evil robots this summer in "Transformers," but if you were in downtown Chicago early Sunday, you may have seen him stubbornly standing up to security guards at a local Walgreens. Chicago police say Shia LaBeouf was arrested at the Walgreens around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after refusing to leave the store. A security guard repeatedly told LaBeouf that he wasn't welcome and had to leave because he appeared to be drunk, police said. When the actor refused to leave, the security guard detained him and called police. After he was arrested, LaBeouf was "very courteous and polite," and he posted bond before 7 a.m., police said. LaBeouf, 21, of Glendale, Calif., was charged with misdemeanor crimina...
